Cheryl Stanley,
senior consultant

For over 25 years, Cheryl Stanley has worked in marketing, communications and development. For 11 years she served as Deputy Director for Public Affairs at the College Board of New York. At the College of Saint Elizabeth she personally raised $17 million and led a successful $25 million capital campaign as the College’s first Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

Ms. Stanley joined SBA in 2003 and currently directs annual and capital campaigns that have raised $13 million toward goals that total $21 million.

Prior to joining SBA, she served as Senior VP and the first Chief Development Officer for Junior Achievement New York, an affiliate of worldwide JA. Then, she became VP of a United Nations humanitarian agency which supports and sponsors programs for safe motherhood, HIV/AIDS prevention and disaster/ refugee response in 140 of the world’s poorest countries.

At both Junior Achievement and the U.S. Committee for UN Population Fund, Ms. Stanley launched and led their first integrated, diversified and sustainable development programs with emphasis on increasing individual major gifts. In addition to raising over $9 million for those organizations, she helped to expand and revitalize the Board of Directors, introduce major gift strategies and adapt communications/marketing approaches commonly used in the for-profit sector. Integrated marketing, communications and development strategies increased productivity, brand awareness and visibility and positioned JA New York to launch its first endowment campaign and the U.S. Committee to launch a $34 million national campaign.

After teaching high school Spanish and working in corporate finance for Chrysler in Madrid, Ms. Stanley directed a national public affairs program for the College Board. While raising her children, she built a successful business and developed entrepreneurial skills valuable in her advancement career.

At the College of Saint Elizabeth, Ms. Stanley also led a strategic planning task force on institutional advancement with full campus and Board representation as well as an interdepartmental quality process team to improve donor stewardship and accountability. In 1998, she organized and directed six committees of over 100 people to plan the College’s 15-month centennial.

Ms. Stanley is a graduate of Duquesne University, Pittsburgh and has a certificate in Public Relations Management from NYU. She resides in Morristown, NJ.
